Release Notes for McAfee® AntiSpyware Enterprise Module 8.7

Thank you for using the AntiSpyware Enterprise Module. This document contains important information about this release. We strongly recommend that you read the entire document.

CAUTION: We do not support automatic upgrading of a pre-release version of the software. To upgrade to a production release of the software, you must first uninstall the existing version of the software.

Beta product testing

The beta version of this product is available for use until the beta product license expires on November 30, 2008.

New features

New and updated features in the current release of the software are described below:


  • This 8.7 version of the AntiSpyware Enterprise Module works only with VirusScan® Enterprise 8.7i. It does not work with previous versions of VirusScan Enterprise.

  • An Alert when a cookie detection occurs option has been added to the On-Demand Scan, Reports tab.

    When this option is selected:
    • ePolicy Orchestrator alerts are generated.
    • Detections are logged in the activity log.
    • Detections are counted in the scan statistics if you enabled the Log file option on the Reports tab.
    • A notification appears when the cookie is detected if using McAfee Alert Manager.
    When this option is deselected:
    • The detection is logged in the activity log if you enabled the Log file option on the Reports tab.
    • The detection is counted in the scan statistics.
    • ePolicy Orchestrator does not generate alerts and you do not receive detection notifications.
  • Quarantining of cookie detections has been disabled by default. You must now modify a registry key to enable quarantining of cookies.

  1. Go to knowledge.mcafee.com and select Product Documentation under Useful links.
