The SpamKiller for Domino software includes the following components: - An engine that scans e-mail messages and uses a set of anti-spam rules to identify those that are spam. - A Lotus Domino database that provides the interface that you, as the administrator, use to manage your spam detection rules, determine how SpamKiller handles junk e-mail messages and fine-tune the software’s anti-spam actions. - SpamKiller Client software, which allows users to define how they want incoming e-mail messages to be handled. __________________________________________________________ INSTALLATION AND SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS SpamKiller has the following system requirements: - Any of the following Microsoft Windows servers: - Windows 2000 Server, with SP 3 or later installed. - Windows Server 2003. - Any of the following Lotus Domino versions: - Lotus Domino 5.x.x - Lotus Domino 6.0.x - Lotus Domino 6.5.x - Lotus Domino 7.0 - A minimum of 512 MB of RAM. - A minimum of 139 MB of Paging Space. - A minimum of 1 GB of free hard disk space. IMPORTANT: DO NOT install SpamKiller on the same server as Symantec Antivirus/Filtering for Lotus Domino. Doing so may result in neither product working. NOTE: SpamKiller 2.1 is supported by GroupShield v5.3 for Lotus Domino. It will not install on to a computer with an earlier version of GroupShield for Lotus Domino. SpamKiller 2.1 can be installed on a computer that does not have GroupShield installed. If the common name of your Domino server is not in 7-bit ASCII format you must add the following setting to the server NOTES.INI: MCAFEE_SKD_POLICY_NAME= Where is a unique 7-bit ASCII name created by you, which SpamKiller for Lotus Domino will use internally to reference your Domino server. INSTALLATION STEPS 1. If you have downloaded the software from our website, unzip the .ZIP file to a suitable location, then you can begin installation. If you do not have MSI v2.0 on your system, SpamKiller may prompt you to reboot your server during installation. 2. Double-click on the setup.exe file to commence installation. NOTE: If you install an evaluation version of this software, it expires after 30 days. 3. The Setup screen is displayed. To register the product following installation, select the registration box. 4. Follow the on-screen instructions to install McAfee SpamKiller 2.1. 5. The McAfee License Agreement is displayed, read through this carefully. If you accept the terms of the license agreement, click the "I accept the terms in the license agreement button", then click OK. If you do not agree to the terms of the license agreement, installation will not proceed. 6. When installation is complete you are ready to run SpamKiller for Domino. 7. If you want to subsequently make changes to the setup, re-install the software or un-install it, open the Windows Control Panel and select Add/Remove Programs. Select McAfee SpamKiller for Lotus Domino Windows, then choose Change. The McAfee SpamKiller Application Maintenance screen is displayed, select your options from here. CLUSTER INSTALLATION If you are performing a Custom Installation of SpamKiller on to a Microsoft server cluster, follow the instructions given in the relevant section of the SpamKiller Installation Guide, additionally you must be aware of the following: - If you do not install to the default location, the alternate location you select must be the same on both sides of the cluster. All options selected must be duplicated on both sides of the cluster. - The installation location must be a location on the node, not on the virtual disks. The databases will automatically be installed to the virtual disk where Domino stores databases. - Immediately following installation on the 1st Node, you must failover and install onto the 2nd Node. Use exactly the same parameters as those used on the first node. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION - When you add an email address to the blacklist or the whitelist, it must be in RFC compliant form. TESTING YOUR INSTALLATION You can test if the Spamkiller is applied correctly by typing the following command on the Domino server console: TELL MCAFEECONFIG VERSION The console should show the product version as: ------------------------------------------ GSD/SKD Product Versions: ------------------------------------------ On-Access - 5.3.1329.0 On-Demand - Unknown Auto Update - 5.3.1339.0 Config Manager - 5.3.1329.0 Reporter - 5.3.1339.0 Extension Manager - 5.3.1329.0 Notes Scanner - 5.3.1329.0 Conflt - 5.3.1329.0 ------------------------------------------ You can test the operation of the software by running the GTUBE (General Test mail for Unsolicited Bulk E-mail) test. This test enables you to verify that SpamKiller has installed correctly and is detecting incoming spam. The test e-mail message must be sent from an outside account. 1. From an SMTP client, create a new e-mail message. 2. In the body of the message, copy the following text: XJS*C4JDBQADN1.NSBN3*2IDNEN*GTUBE-STANDARD-ANTI-UBE-TEST-EMAIL*C.34X Make sure that you enter this line with no line breaks. 3. Send the new e-mail message to a mailbox address on the server where you have installed SpamKiller. SpamKiller scans the message, recognizes it as a junk e-mail message and deals with it accordingly. The GTUBE test overrides blacklists and whitelists. For more information on the GTUBE test file, visit: http://spamassassin.apache.org/ REMOVING THIS RELEASE 1. At the Domino server's command prompt, enter the following command to stop the Lotus Domino server: QUIT 2. Go to add/remove programs in control panel. Select Spamkiller for lotus domino and click on remove. __________________________________________________________ KNOWN ISSUES The following issues apply to this version of SpamKiller 2.1. 1. If you have Lotus Domino v6.0 or v6.1 installed, you must disable signing of the databases, failure to do this may mean that the installation stops responding. This issue does not occur if you are using Lotus Domino v6.1 with CF2 or later (for example v6.5). To disable signing, select Custom installation and deselect "Sign SpamKiller for Lotus Domino". 2. Performance overheads may occur when whilst scans for spam. 3. If you are using Lotus Domino v5.x and type information into database fields, a screen flash may appear when you press some keys. NOTE: This does not affect the data input. 4. If you are using Lotus Domino v5.x, repeated opening and viewing of e-mail messages in the quarantine database may cause the software to stop responding. 5. If SpamKiller is installed on the same computer as Trend ScanMail, e-mail messages released from SpamKiller quarantine remain on hold in the Mail.box. 6. In the SpamKiller Repository database, you cannot purge items from the Log or Quarantine that are less than a day old. 7. The default values assigned to Low, Medium and High, spam values cannot be altered. 8. When configuring the "Anti-spam Engine and Rule Set Update", the "Scheduled Updates" is ENABLED by default. 9. To install SpamKiller client, follow the procedure given in the SpamKiller for Lotus Domino Product Guide, with the following changes: - Open the SpamKiller Client template database (.NTF file) in Designer. - When you update the mail template database, you must copy the following components: McAfeeSpamSettings form McAfee: SpamKiller agent McAfee: SpamKiller for Lotus Domino agent McAfeeScript script library. - The new option placed in the Action menu on the users’ menu page is McAfee SpamKiller. Click this to display the McAfee Anti-Spam Configuration form. 10. If you use the "View by Recipient" option to view quarantined items, the total number of items appearing in the quarantine area may appear to be different to the number appearing in if you use the View All option to view the quarantine area. This is because View All shows the actual number of messages in the quarantine area, whereas View by Recipient, shows how many recipients messages have been quarantined. For example, if one spam message is addressed to 10 people, only one message is placed in the quarantine area, but SpamKiller will, correctly, report that 10 recipients messages have been quarantined, if you View by Recipient. 11. If you choose View Scanning Information, and select the Spam Messages Detected option, the value displayed represents the total number of messages that SpamKiller has processed (either by marking them or discarding/quarantining them) it does NOT represent the number of spam messages that have passed through and triggered the rules. 12. The SpamKiller Installation guide contains a section of Frequently Asked Questions. Please note that the following question does not apply to SpamKiller 2.1: "When SpamKiller for Lotus Domino is installed on the same computer as VirusScan Enterprise 7.x, what exclusions do I need to set within VirusScan Enterprise." 13. When you configure the SpamKiller Client, the relevant mail database must be closed and then re-opened for the changes to take effect. 14. If you are running ePolicy Orchestrator v2.5.1 or earlier, you must add the SpamKiller report formats manually to the ePolicy Orchestrator server. To do this: - Go to the SpamKiller installation directory. Default path: C:\Program Files\McAfee\SpamKiller for Lotus Domino - Unzip SKD21RPT.ZIP and save the component files to the following directory: C:\Program Files\ McAfee\ePO\\AVI on your ePolicy Orchestrator server. 15. The SpamKiller Installation Guide describes the components that SpamKiller installs on your Lotus Domino server. The SpamKiller installation does not include adding a database called SDK21_UPDATE.NSF. 16. SpamKiller does not support Lotus Domino with DB2 feature enabled for Domino 7.0. 17. On Lotus Domino Server version 7.0, ePolicy Orchestrator managed SpamKiller for Domino version 2.1 software stops responding when restarted. __________________________________________________________ DOCUMENTATION The following documentation is included with McAfee(R) SpamKiller(R) Version 2.1 for Lotus Domino: - Installation Guide.
