Each product directory contains document files stored as Adobe Acrobat Portable Document Format files (.PDF) and as compressed archives (.ZIP or .HQX). Both the .PDF file and the archive with the same name contain exactly the same documentation. Downloading the compressed version of the Guide for review on your local computer reduces your connection time. To extract the compressed guide from a .ZIP archive, you'll need a compression utility that can read the .ZIP format. Examples include: PRODUCT AVAILABLE FROM ======= ============== PKUNZIP http://www.pkware.com/download.html WINZIP http://www.winzip.com/ddchome.htm If the archive has an .HQX extension, it is a Macintosh file saved in BinHex format. To extract this file from its archive, you'll need a utility that can decode the BinHex format. Examples include: PRODUCT AVAILABLE FROM ======= ============== StuffIt http://www.aladdinsys.com/expander/index.html Expander DeHQX Most Macintosh shareware archives To view the extracted User's Guide, you'll need a copy of Acrobat Reader. To download a copy of Acrobat Reader, visit the Adobe Systems website at http://www.adobe.com/prodindex/acrobat/readstep.html. To view a User's Guide for a particular product while online, you must install and use the Adobe Acrobat PDFViewer plug-in for your web browser software. The latest versions of Adobe Acrobat Reader come with the required plug-in. If you have the plug-in installed with your browser software, double-clicking any .PDF file stored in this archive will start Acrobat Reader and display the first page of the Network Associates User's Guide in your browser window. ______________________________ ABOUT DOCUMENTATION FILE NAMES Each User's Guide or Getting Started Guide for Network Associates Total Virus Defense products have a filename that consists of these elements: [product code][version number][DOC] or [SRT].[PDF] or [ZIP] The product code is a three-character abbreviation for the Total Virus Defense product.
