This ISeamless script will automatically update VirusScan For Windows NT and/or NetShield for Windows NT for the Dec Alpha platform with the most current released set of data files and the current engine HotFix.
MCSCAN32.DLL and MCSCAN.SYS are the scan engine components for the On-Demand and On-Access scanning, respectively, for VirusScan and NetShield for Windows NT. The engine version is 3.20a, and the data files are 3109. This script will work for either product.
**NOTE: Do not attempt to install the NetShield/VirusScan version optimized for the Intel-based systems on a Digital Equipment (DEC) Alpha system, and do not attempt to install the NetShield/VirusScan version optimized for Digital Alpha computers on an Intel-based system **
It is recommended that you install this new engine and data files with the most currently released product.
The upgraded files this patch will copy are:
CLEAN.DAT
NAMES.DAT
POLYSCAN.DAT
SCAN.DAT
MCSCAN32.DLL
MCSCAN.SYS
The files:
AUTONT.ISC
AUTONT.SIS
are ISeamless files. The AUTONT.ISC file is the uncompiled AUTONT.SIS. It is the AUTONT.SIS file that is required to be in the same directory as SETUP.EXE.
ISeamless Installation:
______________________________
1. Unzip NTUP320a.zip into the same directory as your VirusScan or NetShield for Windows NT SETUP.EXE.
2. Run Setup in interactive or non-interactive silent mode.
3. AUTONT.SIS will install the upgraded files during regular installation. The install will provide the ISeamless script with the proper destination information.
Manual Installation:
______________________________
1. Unzip NTUP320a.zip.
2. Halt the VirusScan or NetShield for Windows NT service.
3. Copy
CLEAN.DAT
NAMES.DAT
POLYSCAN.DAT
SCAN.DAT
MCSCAN32.DLL
to your NetShield or VirusScan for Windows NT directory. When prompted to overwrite the existing files reply Yes.
4. Copy
MCSCAN.SYS
to C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS. When prompted to overwrite the existing file reply Yes.
5. For VirusScan or NetShield for Windows NT to utilize the new engine files you need to reboot the system.
NOTE: A reboot is necessary for an engine upgrade. If you are only upgrading the virus definition files, starting and stopping the McAfee service is sufficient.
6. Confirm that the reboot restarted the McAfee service.
