New features

New and updated features in the current release of the software are described below:

User Interface

The management user interface has been streamlined for greater efficiency and ease-of-use. It no longer requires Java, which means customers will experience faster performance and will be able to manage the appliance from a variety of platforms.

Improved performance

The ability of the appliance to handle large numbers of simultaneous connections has been improved, resulting in a greater ability for the appliance to deliver consistent and predictable performance for customers within the specified user range.

Roles based access control

The administrator can assign administration duties to different people within the IT organization, giving large enterprises increased security and management control. Pre-defined administration roles are provided, for example: super-administrator, email-only administrator, web-only administrator, and report administrator. Administrators can create custom administration roles to suit their needs.

Advanced reporting

Easily customizable, faster reports:

  • Schedule reports to run on a regular basis
  • New report output formats – PDF, HTML, CSV
  • Send a report to one or more email recipients
  • Interactive drilldown options for easier investigation
  • Role-based access controls let designated users run reports even though they have no system configuration rights.

MTA enhancements

The message transfer agent (MTA) has been enhanced with features that will be appreciated by large enterprises, such as:

  • Reroute traffic on-the-fly based on criteria set by the administrator.
  • Dynamic address stripping can stop sensitive internal topology data from leaving your perimeter.
  • Track messages from the gateway to your quarantine making it easy to determine the final disposition of any given message.
  • Detailed logging provides data for analyzing both inbound and outbound traffic patterns.

IPv6

Support for IPv6 simplifies the job of managing node addresses in very large environments and removes the need to create complex network segmentation schemes.

New Improved Online Help

The information in the product guide has been incorporated into the Online Help and it has also been improved for greater efficiency and ease-of-use.
