Release Notes for McAfee® SiteAdvisorTM Enterprise Plus 2.0

Important information about this release

Thank you for using McAfee® SiteAdvisor Enterprise Plus software version 2.0. This file contains important information regarding installing and managing SiteAdvisor Enterprise Plus with McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator®. We strongly recommend that you read the entire document.

CAUTION: We do not support automatic upgrading of a pre-release version of the software. To upgrade to a production release of the software, you must first uninstall the existing version of the software.

New features

SiteAdvisor Enterprise Plus is a security add-on for Microsoft Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox browsers that identifies sites linked to spyware, adware, spam, viruses, browser-based attacks, phishing, or online fraud.

SiteAdvisor Enterprise Plus can be deployed in the following versions of ePolicy Orchestrator: 4.0.

New features include:


  • Deployment, management, and reporting enhancements, such as custom queries and dashboards, using ePO 4.0.

  • Policy-based blocking of unwanted websites.

  • Ability to configure Authorize lists and Prohibit lists (to allow and block websites) within ePO.

  • Anti-phishing detection of fraudulent websites that attempt to uncover private data.

  • Support for server operating systems. The supported operating systems are: Microsoft Windows® XP/Vista/Windows Server 2003 and 2008.

  • Support for Firefox 3.0.

Known issues

Known issues in this release of the software are described below:

  • When installing SiteAdvisor Enterprise Plus, the Enable third-party browser extensions option must be enabled in Internet Explorer. [396026, 396037, 396022]

  • After uninstalling SiteAdvisor Enterprise Plus on a managed system, several files might remain in the installation directories because they were locked by Internet Explorer. Reboot the computer to complete the uninstallation process.

  • ePO is not notified when SiteAdvisor Enterprise Plus is uninstalled (by using Add/Remove Programs) from a managed system. [370823]

  • In Internet Explorer, users can disable SiteAdvisor Enterprise Plus by using the Tools | Manage Add-ons feature regardless of settings for the Enable/Disable policy. [411669]

  • Firefox does not support the warn or block feature for download files accessed on sites that are not blocked. Unless the site is blocked, users are able to access downloads; no warning or block message is displayed.

  • On managed systems running Windows 2003 Server, SiteAdvisor Enterprise Plus identifies the operating system as Windows XP when logging block and warn events. [396027]

  • ePO Agent reports the SiteAdvisor Enterprise Plus language as '0000' instead of 'Multiple' on systems running Windows Vista 32-bit. [416375]

  • Some versions of the Free SiteAdvisor product are not completely uninstalled when installing SiteAdvisor Enterprise Plus. [421214]
