RESOLVED ISSUES 1. REQUIREMENT: There was a specific customer requirement for more frequent anti-spam rule updates. RESOLUTION: After you install this package the appliance will check for rule updates every minute. NOTE: If the WebShield appliance is behind a firewall, you may need to reconfigure your firewall to allow the appliance to recieve updates from http://update.nai.com. NOTE: This release does not work with earlier versions of WebShield(R) Appliance software. INSTALLATION STEPS To install this package, follow these steps: 1. Create a temporary directory on the computer’s hard disk. 2. From the McAfee web site, download the file WSv30SpamUpdProt.zip. 3. Extract the file WSv30SpamUpdateProtection.zip from the .ZIP file to a location on your network that can be accessed from the WebShield appliance. You might need to get a password from your McAfee support representative. 4. Open your Internet browser and browse to the WebShield appliance, or use the WebShield Client program to access the WebShield appliance. 5. Log in to the WebShield appliance when prompted by entering your username and password. 6. Select "Manage Components" from the System menu. 7. Use the Component Install -> 'Install a selected hotfix or service pack file' 'Browse' button, to find the location of the package file WSv30SpamUpdateProtection.zip and select 'Open'. The package will now be installed onto the appliance. 8. Once the package is installed, logoff, then log back in again and select 'About WebShield' and ensure that the correct package number is displayed in the section "Hotfix / Service Pack Files". NOTE: To check the rule file is being updated, select "Logs" from the Monitor menu, and then select "Update" and then Next>. The report will include details of the streaming rule updates. 9. To uninstall the package, repeat steps 3 to 7 above, replacing the file WSv30SpamUpdateProtection.zip with the file WSv30SpamUpdateProtectionR.zip. NOTE: If you plan to use the WSv30SpamUpdateProtection.zip file again, keep it available on your computer. Otherwise, delete the file once the package has been installed successfully.
