MBCS Patch 1 This patch is intended for the following systems: WebShield 3XX This patch addresses the following issues: - Multi-Byte Character Support for the Anti-Virus capable HTTP, FTP, and SMAP proxies. IMPORTANT: Uuencoding and MIME are the only encoding methods that are Multi-Byte supported. To install the package version of the MBCS patch, you must first install the ESPM Install Patch. When using the GUI from a Microsoft client, freezing may occur when performing certain operations. To correct this problem, perform the following steps. 1) From the Windows client you are running the GUI from, go to java.sun.com/products/. 2) From the drop down, select Java Runtime Environment. 3) Select the JRE 1.1.X Win32 Release link. 4) Select Internationalized as the locale. You will then be guided through the download of the latest JRE for Win32. Once you have downloaded the file, execute it. 5) When selecting components, change the Destination Directory to "c:\program files\webshield 300 gui\jre" or to an alternate directory if the default location was not used during install. APPLYING THE PATCH: To apply the patch, place the .shar file into the /tmp directory. Next, change into the /tmp directory and type: sh ./[PATCH NAME] (where [PATCH NAME] is the name of the .shar file) This will unshar the patch, and create a series of directories beneath /tmp. Change into the directory named "MBCS.dir" and type: sh ./apply This will install the patched files to the appropriate locations on your system. For the patch to take effect, it will be necessary to reboot the machine. NOTE: Since the /tmp directory is for temporary files, it is advisable to keep a copy of the patch file in another location on the filesystem. Otherwise, the patch file might be deleted once the system is rebooted. APPLYING THE PACKAGE: To apply the package, place the tar file into the /tmp directory on the Entrprise Workstation. Next, change into the root "/" directory and untar the file using the following command: tar -xvf /tmp/.tar. This will create the package directory structure from which the Enterprise Workstation can apply the package. Open the Packages folder from the ESPM Workstation GUI. The newly added package should be visible. Highlight the package you are applying and select Actions->Apply from the toolbar. A list of target hosts will be displayed, Select one that you wish to apply the package to and select OK. Select OK once again when the package has been succussfully installed. To verify that the packge properly installed, view the patchlog file on the target host, which is located at /usr/local/etc/mgmt/. NOTE: Since the /tmp directory is for temporary files, it is advisable to keep a copy of the patch file in another location on the filesystem. Otherwise, the patch file might be deleted once the system is rebooted.
